1. Don't let the cold weather keep you from exercising outside. Embrace the winter and expand your "fitness repertoire" by taking up something new like snow shoeing, cross country skiing, skating or downhill skiing. Even a brisk walk will be of great benefit. It will take some discipline, but if you can find someone to do the activities with you it will not only be more fun but you will motivate each other.
2. While shopping for holiday gifts, park your car a distance away so you get to walk to and from (as long as it is safe). Take the stairs instead of the elevator or escalator at the malls.
3. Stuck inside due to weather or kids? No need to miss out. Try exercising with a video in the comfort of your home. There are a wide range of exercise formats taught on video that should help you stay on track during the winter season or while kids are on their winter break. It may also be fun to do with the kids. What better example can we set than the importance of exercise and honoring our bodies no matter what time of year it is!
