For many Americans, exercise is a chore. In fact, the vast majority of Americans will do anything possible to avoid activity, movement or exercise. We use remote controls to change channels, we surf the Internet vs. going shopping in a mall, we automate our work efforts to minimize labor and we make every excuse we can think of to talk ourselves out of daily exercise. For those of us who need concrete measures and goals in order to get moving, a pedometer just might be what you need to get motivated.

Recent studies and recommendations state that the average American should take approximately 10,000 steps per day. While that might initially sound like a lot, you will quickly find that individuals who embrace a daily lifestyle that incorporates the joy of movement will easily meet this goal. Pedometers can be purchased through your local sporting goods retailer. Following a quick setup, you can easily monitor your daily activity levels. We encourage you to get up and get moving.
