Does Your Fitness Regime Need a Seasonal Change?
The seasons are changing, the temperature is changing, the amount of daylight is changing but… you’re still doing the same fitness regime you had a few months ago. It’s time too cross-train! You used to get excited to exercise but now you are bored. Rather than feeling challenged, you find yourself going through the motion. Well, congratulations, your body has adapted to the “stress” of your workout, which means you’ve gotten stronger! It’s time to move on and try something new!

Cross-training has many benefits. Adding variety to your workout will keep you motivated. You will challenge your cardiovascular system and muscles in different ways. By maintaining a good intensity, you will keep burning calories, too.

Here are some ideas:

If you have been running outdoors, take your workout into an indoor swimming pool. Try running (or walking) in the water. You’ll be amazed at how much the resistance can challenge you. (12 times more)

If you have been cycling outdoors, try a Spinning class at your local fitness center. You might even climb higher hills and sprint faster inside than you do outside!

If the winter weather has made you feel a little stressed, take a Yoga class to calm your mind. At the same time, you’ll increase strength and flexibility.

If you have been indoors to avoid the cold weather, get out and get some fresh air with a walk, run, or a bike ride.

The fitness industry has a lot to offer these days and the options seem endless. Find something that is a little different and you will discover that it’s a lot of fun! Why not have fun with changing your fitness regime with the change of the season?
