Golden Door
When you’re having a bad day HALT and ask yourself if your life is out of balance. Then get back into balance in a healthy way. Use the following guidelines:

Hungry—nourish your body with good nutrition and plenty of water daily.
Feeding your body quality fuel will give you quality of life. Never allow yourself to get really hungry or really stuffed. (Use the Hunger Scale- 1 is really starved and 10 is really stuffed.) Learn to identify your level of hunger and eat only when you’re hungry and stop when you are satisfied. Plan for healthy snacks throughout the day. Eat to live, don’t live to eat.

Angry— Negative emotions move us into the stress response and impact all
the cells in the body. Research now shows us that negative thoughts and feelings can lower the immune system and affect our mental and physical health. Depression is just anger turned inwards. Express your negative emotions in a healthy way, (you can always write a nasty letter and then throw it away or do some vigorous exercise) Then let them go and forgive as much as possible, and that includes self-forgiveness.

Lonely —Studies show that people with a strong support system (that
includes our animal friends) live longer, happier, healthier lives. Also, be sure to get your daily requirement of hugs and laughter. We now know that humor and physical touch heal us physically and spiritually.

Tired—Sleep is necessary for our emotional and physical renourishment.
Sleep deprivation lowers immune system and decreases physical and mental performance. Medical science recommends 8-10 hours of sleep daily for optimum performance. Even naps and meditation can fill up the sleep deprivation bank.
