New Age Health Spa
Relaxation may be the most important part of beauty, and yet the least practiced one. Let's face it, it is a skill. It is not easy to "shut your mind off" after a tough day at work or during a stressful event in your life. In addition, because stress can come in the form of anxiety, sometimes prolonged if you are what’s known as a "worryer," it can have really negative effects on your skin and whole body. Here are some tips on taking five, or taking off:
Breathe deep
It seems simple, doesn't it? The truth is that we often become so tense that we take very shallow breaths. Take a mental note of your stress level and remind yourself to breathe deep.
Count to ten
Counting a repetitive beat can serve as a mini-meditation. If the event that is stressing you is out of your hands, such as being stuck in traffic, close your eyes do a mini counting session and say "hey, what can you do?"
Take a bath or steam
A bath or steam can serve as a great way to reconnect with your body and get out of your mind. Before you climb in, make a conscious effort to get what ever it is that's troubling you off your mind.
Stimulate your senses
When a stressful event is taking over your whole mind and body, retreat to your soul. Smell pretty things or listen to calm music to stimulate your other senses and forget about any troubling things. Aromatherapy can be a great resource in overcoming negative feelings. And music can serve as a easy meditation for those who are not used to a daily practice and have a hard time "quieting their mind."
Get what ever it is out of the way
Is there a deadline chasing you where ever you go? If you can't sleep because of an incomplete task, just get up and do it! Getting an assignment out of the way is the best way to stop it from haunting you. Just remember that if you depend on this technique for stress relief, you'll be stuck when an even that's out of your hands comes at you. It’s important to know when to simply let go.
Clear out Clutter
Clutter in the home often times leads to clutter in the mind. Clear out the space around you to feel a lightened sense. Cleaning also serves as a meditation, getting your mind to focus on the task at hand instead of your problems.
Take a vacation
Once all of your tasks are done or your parents finally went home after the holidays, take a vacation to let your body naturally return to its state of balance. Pick a place that makes you feel good and that wont stress you even more. Did someone say health spa?
