The Heartland Spa
Starting a workout routine is the easy part! It feels so good and it’s even fun, especially after a winter of hibernation. Before long, the newness wears off and the workout becomes boring and a thing of the past. What’s the secret to sticking with it? Before you start exercising, this time, have a Fitness Assessment. Find out just how fit you actually are right now, set realistic goals according to your current fitness level, and develop a routine that works on the areas that actually need improvement. A typical assessment will measure the following:
Resting values such as heart rate and blood pressure
Body Composition (identify the location of excess body fat)
Flexibility
Muscular strength and endurance
Cardiorespiratory fitness
There are various methods of assessment, all of which are painless and probably take less than an hour of your time. You’ll find the results of your first assessment interesting. For example, you might be stronger than you thought but you just don’t have the endurance you used to. Therefore, you’ll focus on improving your endurance. Usually, in a minimum of 12 weeks, you will have a second assessment. By comparing the results you will actually see that you’ve improved and you will know that your hard work is paying off. That’s motivational! You will discover that you will want to set new goals and change your routine. Believe it or not, you’ll want to keep exercising!
Where do you go for a fitness assessment? Try a Destination Spa, your local health club or hospital. These assessments sometimes, are in conjunction with cardiac rehab facilities as well.
O.K. now you are ready to start you new workout! Let's get started.
