Italian cuisine was surveyed to be the most preferred foods by spa goers, beating out such other favorites as Greek, French, Southwest, Swiss, & Thai. The study was undertaken in a joint study by Eve Kurzer, a graduating student of Cornell University of New York, under the direction of faculty within the famous Cornell University Hotel School.

The recently published study surveyed spa goers eating habits & preferences. Sixteen different ethnic cuisine choices were surveyed, and it was found that Italian Cuisine was the favorite having achieved a 57% "favorite" rating , compared to second place finisher, Japanese, which had a respectable 37% "favorite" rating, though far behind the Italian.

In another result & new found fact, Spa Cuisine was found to be a "favorite" or "enjoyable" by a very large percentage, 82% of the respondents, compared to Italian which had a combined 93% rating for "favorite" or "enjoyable", or 76% combined rating for Japanese cuisine.

Broiling ranked first among cooking methods, from a sample of 12 techniques, which ranged from broiling (#1) to stir fry (#5), to microwave (#12). Related, the study also considered how much time people put into meal preparation each week, where it was found that over 51% of respondents spend less than 5 hours per week, preparing meals.

The study also surveyed & determined preferences and rankings for different seafoods, other meats, various types of carbohydrates, exotic meats such as venison & ostrich, in order to find the preferences of spa goers, helping to determine attitudes towards healthy eating amongst this group of diners.
