2003 Spafinder Readers’ Choice Awards
The results are in. More than 4,000 Spafinder readers voted for their top choices in several categories – including fitness, massage, accommodations, spa cuisine and several other important aspects of the spa vacation. Despite being a small sector of the spa industry, Destination Spas were honored in most of the categories and dominated the overall results.
Destination Spas are dedicated spas, where the whole environment is geared towards fitness, healthy eating, relaxation and renewal. So, it makes sense that Destination Spa Group members faired very well in the spa cuisine and fitness/activity oriented categories. Spafinder readers overwhelmingly chose Destination Spas as the Best of Hiking, Best of Yoga, Best of Fitness and Best of Spirituality programs. In these categories, seven or eight of the ten top choices were Destination Spa Group members – including both Canyon Ranch properties, Rancho La Puerta, Red Mountain, Golden Door, Lake Austin Spa Resort, New Age Health Spa, New Life Hiking, The Oaks at Ojai and Green Valley Spa.
Additionally, Destination Spas garnered many votes in the dollar value and accommodation categories and two DSG member spas were prized for the top spa by size. New Age Health Spa in Neversink, New York received the Best Small Spa Crystal Award and Green Valley Spa in Saint George, Utah was honored with the Best Midsize Spa Crystal Award. In the international ring, Rancho La Puerta was voted best in Mexico. Overall, twelve Destination Spa Group members were honored with a Readers Choice Award.
