For the boys, how about “mancations?”

More resorts are catering to groups of guys getting away together.

That’s after a 2008 study by researcher Synovate showed that 42 percent of male respondents had taken a mancation and 42 percent who hadn’t take none would consider one.

One place seeking out the men: Red Mountain Resort and Spa in southwest Utah. It offers mancations with such activities as adventure mountain biking, hiking, rappelling and kayaking.

Book by May 31, and male guests can opt for the Challenge Retreat package, a 5-day/4-night stay that starts at $280 per person. It includes a choice of a kayaking or rock climbing adventure; a choice of a 50-minute massage or facial; daily guided morning hikes; three meals a day; unlimited fitness classes; “Eat Well, Feel Well” cooking demonstrations and use of resort amenities including swimming pools, bicycles, walking trails, plus strength and cardio studios.

The resort also offers locally-brewed beers, including Zion Canyon India Pale Ale and Squatters St. Provo Girl Pilsner.
