The county sports three of the nation’s top 10 places to go for a pampering retreat, according to Travel + Leisure magazine.

Cal-a-Vie, an off-the-beaten-path Vista resort, was at the top of the magazine’s list of the 10 best destination spas in the United States and Canada, published in its June edition.

The Golden Door in Escondido ranked No. 2 and the La Costa Resort and Spa in Carlsbad No. 8. Three out of 10 ain’t bad. That’s great.

The Lodge at Torrey Pines ranked No. 49 on the magazine’s list of the top 100 hotels in the continental U.S. and Canada, while the Four Seasons Resort Aviara in Carlsbad was in 53rd place.

Travel + Leisure’s 13th annual rankings were derived from a readers poll.
